The village of Nea Skioni was built on the site of the ancient Skioni town mentioned by Thucydides, on the western coast of Kassandra in the Chalkidiki peninsula. Today, this village is famous among tourists for its beaches; it also remains the principal fishing port of Kassandra. Fishing taverns attract both tourists and local residents.
