Polygyros is the capital of Chalkidiki, a municipal center. There are banks, central hospital, courts, police department here. Notwithstanding its administrative value, the settlement is not very large due to its location far from the beaches, at the foot of the Cholomontas Mountain in the center of the Chalkidiki peninsula. It will appeal to those fond of peaceful promenades and ancient history and architecture. There is also a small ethnographic museum here.
Please pay attention to the fact that if you are interested in shopping or in visiting the museum or state institutions, a transfer to Polygyros should be scheduled in the morning hours. Approximately after 14.30, everything closes up, and only taverns and automatic cash dispensers remain functioning.
